Technology Advances, will robots really control the world?

Movies such as ‘I, robot’, ‘Robots’, ‘Transformers’ picture robots thinking for themselves and some them trying to govern the world. This, I believe and hope won’t happen. People say that technology should stop developing because of the fear of them taking control. Don’t be afraid!
Stephen Hawking, a German scientist believes that artificial intelligence will probably take over the world. I think this is, superficially talking, a ridiculous prediction.

As you see in the video ‘Future Technology UMPC’, the man with the bracelet has control over the TV, light, computer. The system only helps him organize his time better and facilitate his movements. Or in the video ‘Honda creates robot that can be controlled with brain’, the man with the cable connected to the brain send signals from the brain to the robot and robot obeys. This means that robots obey the orders of the human being, and that my friends can’t be changed.

Artificial Intelligence as the name says is artificial. Robots don’t have feelings nor a real brain. They can feel because they don’t have a soul. Robots are simple machines that follow the instructions from a sequence of rules (Algorithms).
But there is a tricky face in this phrase. Robots might control the world not meaning that they will go against human kind, but control the economy, and lifestyle in which we live.

For example nowadays the top 10 in demand jobs include some kind of technology knowledge, at least the basis; these jobs, in 2004 didn’t even exist! Our planet has evolved constantly and with the new computer impact out social environment has changed and so has our demands. A school is not considered to be modern nor “good” if it doesn’t include any kind of ICT lessons. Airports are also controlled by electricity which is technology. School can’t ring a bell if there is no electricity which is technology and so on.

Also the media believes (WALL-E) that because of technology people will get more obese as they will stop having the need to move a finger to do something since the computer will do it all for them. This is not true. Some people may, but others won’t (like everything in life, there is a balance). Video game lovers do have eating disorders such as obesity, but that not the whole population. The media such as magazines, TV programs will impulse people to be skinny, but enjoy technology (Future Technology UMPC: the actor is a fit man). Also, since the robots will be controlled with our brain activity it will need of some kind of body movement. An old Spanish saying asserts, ‘A healthy mind is a healthy body’.

Predictions say that by 2030 an artificial brain transplant will be placed. This is a positive effect for human kind. Since the illicit drug existence, brain damage patients have raised. Also they say that by 2020, universal language translation will be commonplace in every device which will help people around the world understand each other better. But then again they have been predicting since 1996 that there will be weather control systems to control weather for a nice vacation. Well, where is it?
